We meet the 1st and 3rd Wednesday of every month from 7 to 9 p.m.

Nervous about coming to a meeting?

Everyone is nervous the first time they encounter a new situation but you’ll quickly find yourself among new friends.

You’re not alone and we’re here to help. It’s comforting knowing that others get us.

Our goal is to support and educate people with bipolar disorder and depression. You are not alone and we’re here to help. We also provide support, hope, and insight to family and friends.

The Depression and Bipolar Support Alliance Grand Rapids is a local branch of the national (DBSA). We have been supporting individuals for over 20 years with peer-facilitated meetings that focus on self-empowerment through support and education on mood disorders.

In memoriam of Marnie McLelland Kotwick

In honor of the recent passing of Marnie McLelland Kotwick, one of our local chapter members, her family suggested that donations be made to the DBSA as a group that lovingly helps so many with their struggles with mental illness.

We are blessed to have shared time on earth with someone as gentle and kind as Marnie, and deeply grateful for the generous donations that have been made in her name. A portion of the donations that we received on Marnie’s behalf funded the update and revitalization of this website which is often the first one people turn to who are in distress.

Depression and bipolar disorder can be isolating illnesses
and our support group helps people connect with others who understand
and have been there as well.

We hope it gives her family comfort to know how many others in need will be helped; now and in the future.
